Dinner In White

about

Dinner in White on the Columbia brings together the two cities of Camas and Washougal to dine at the same table and raise funds that will help enhance the lives of those in our community.

Help us turn a new page

100 percent of proceeds will support the Washougal Library Building Fund.

The Washougal Community Library opened in 1978 to help support the needs of 1,500 Washougal residents. Since then, Washougal’s population has grown to more than 16,000 and the library must be upgraded and expanded to meet the needs of today’s users. Help bring this important community project closer to reality by participating in a truly unique fundraising event.

Diner en Blanc

Bonjour mes amis! Thirty years ago, Frenchman Francois Pasquier invited a group of friends to an elegant outdoor dinner at Paris’ Bois de Boulogne. He asked his guests to bring a meal and a new friend, and to wear white so they could easily find each other at the large park. Now the all-white dinner party occurs in more than 80 cities in 30 countries around the world.

A Parisian Tradition

Traditionally, the location of the sophisticated invitation-only event is kept hidden until the last

minute. Then, up to 15,000 guests pack their own table, chairs, and gourmet food to the posh pop-up picnic where they conduct themselves with the elegance of French high society.

All the fun minus the fuss

Dinner in White on the Columbia is fashioned after the original Diner en Blanc, but we leave

behind the secrecy and exclusivity and invite you to be as over-the-top or as casual as you

desire. Perhaps you’re inspired by salmon tartare, fascinators, and frills, or maybe you feel at home in a polo shirt and tennis shoes. We love a diverse table!

A library inspires connection and helps you reach your potential. It provides training, resources, and education that encourage imagination, uncovers options, and creates possibility. The library is a spark that ignites our community and makes the world a brighter place.”

-Rachael Ries, branch manager of the Washougal Community Library
